A Guide To Indoor Playground

If you reside in a place like we do in Western New York (we are in Rochester!) With superbly hot summers and cold snowy winters, you'll understand your options for your kid's birthday celebration are mostly determined by the weather.
As an August baby, we always had little family parties outside at my house. However, together with sons born in November and March, we are always left to book an indoor place for their celebrations, if we chose to have them that year. While those with kids with summer birthdays may seem blessed to have so many choices at their disposal, it may also often feel overwhelming.
While in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play we may be biased because we sponsor indoor celebrations, I wanted to discuss with all the 5 most common reasons we hear out of previous party clients to book indoor summer evenings with us. To them, the stress-free temperament of the indoor summer party is really a no-brainer, plus they're not looking back! After their first indoor summer party, they continue hosting with us year after year.

The most common reason for a customer to reserve a summer indoor celebration with us is so they don't need to stem the weather forecast for updates in the weeks leading up to the party. Nothing can derail a pleasure celebration quicker than having to cram all of your guests inside your home, waiting for a storm to pass. And if you've ever had to cancel or postpone your child's birthday due to weather, you know how heartbreaking that could be.
We receive dozens of calls each summer a couple of days before someone's outdoor celebration is supposed to take place to find out if we've got an open slot for them within our indoor party venue due to weather woes. We can normally pull off this if the place remains open, but hosts will sadly have to scramble and let all their guests know of the change in place and probably shift in time, and also change all of their catering orders to accommodate their new party program.
While of course rain is most probably the biggest obstacle you might face, intense heat, unseasonably cool weather, and wind can also pose problems for your food, decorations, and your guests' possessions. You will probably end up investing in a kayak or some other weather barrier just to ease your mind a bit, which can be costly and take a great deal of precious time to prepare and take down. I will not even tell the story of this time my Dad put up a tent for a celebration in a windstorm and wound up with a insurance claim for 4 ruined cars when it withdrew (weights and anchors and all!) ...

Aside from the obvious weather concerns it's possible to avoid with an indoor celebration, there can also just be something really straightforward and lovely about a indoor summer celebration. Guests will not need to be worried about bringing towels and sunscreen and sunglasses and swimsuits and changes of clothing and bug spray... you get the picture.
Sometimes it's nice to have a short break in the outdoors, sip coffee in an air-conditioned cafe, also have an actual conversation with other adults while the kids play, rather than chasing kids around trying to receive their fur on them keeping them away from the in-ground pool. I am not sure about you, but I could never quite relax at an outdoor summer birthday party with a two and a 4 year-old. While they sure do have a good time running around, we typically leave at a daze or with a tantrum, unsure if we had the time to talk or check in with everybody.
While I absolutely adore a fantastic barbecue or summertime grilling extravaganza, I find it refreshing when we could take a break in the same-old backyard bash and spend a few hours in a relaxing, cool, and most importantly-- included! -- atmosphere.
It is also freeing as a guest to have the rest of the day to do as we want as a family and not have to be concerned about getting the children into a bath immediately after the party or stopping home to cool off and change clothing.
I guarantee that if you reserve an indoor celebration for your child, guests (particularly family) might seem a bit confused at first (why not just take advantage of the summer weather while we could, right?) But after hosting countless indoor parties I can tell you for certain that on the day-of, you and your visitors will realize how nice it is to reunite within an air-conditioned private party for a couple hours.

Speaking of how relaxing an indoor playground equipment (www.twitarcade.com), air-conditioned party could be, can we talk about food for a second? Not only are food options limited with an outdoor celebration due to heat, but it can be hard to keep food covered and retain the bugs, bees, and other debris away.
At the moment, my sweet 4 year-old boy is terrified of bees, and the quickest way to send him into a tailspin is for him to sit down to eat a cupcake or his meal and also have bees swarming around. So, for our family, the meals factor alone could be enough to justify an indoor celebration.
Eating in peace without needing to find shade or a seat or a place away from pests is just one of those things that you don't realize can be so magnificent until you attend your fourth or fifth outside summer gathering and THEN get a rest from them. Among the most common things we hear is how nice it's to sit and eat and see the kiddos play without having any other venue-related cares or concerns. This is going to be especially important when you are going to be having elderly family members attend that will battle with being mobile in the sand or marijuana and finding seating at outdoor parties.
Plus, when was the last time you attended an outdoor summer celebration with a full espresso bar and cafe available for visitors to enjoy now that they don't need to worry about running around chasing their kids in the warmth?

4) DECOR OPTIONS GALORE

While celebration aesthetic might not be a deciding factor for every family, it sure is much easier to make a themed extravaganza which lighting a child's face up as soon as the party's inside. The decorations demanded are often less since the area is smaller and included contained, and you won't need to worry about balloons and streamers blowing all about or procuring table covers .
Because we do host mobile events outdoors at Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I can also speak from experience when I say the time it takes to install (and take down!) Decorations for an outside celebration compared to an indoor party usually ends up being double. Finding good places to hang banner, needing two people to hold and protect everything, and finding weights or other restraints for everything can be a true hassle on party day.
And you will have enough to be concerned about that afternoon, right?
Also, if your own pinterest planks are full of adorable figurines, a candy bar, or anything which may be affected by wind (or bring bees!) You will likely have to restrategize for an outdoor soiree.
Not to mention decor typically can only get used once if used outdoors, but repurposed again and again if used for an indoor event. Our guests that host indoor occasions, notably those who spent significant money into decoration or labored hard to create their very own, are pleased to find they could usually make a large chunk of their cash back by reselling their materials on something like Facebook Marketplace.
5) YOU MAY ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY
Speaking of cash, probably the biggest misconception I hear from clients is they want to sponsor a party in their home to save the leasing fee of an indoor space. I usually laugh at this because it makes great sense, that is, if you've never hosted an outdoor celebration.
With all of the"extras" like tents, seat rentals, extra decorations, weather reinforcements, cleanup provides, games and activities for your kids (which you won't have to supply at a play area!) It's very likely you will end up spending MUCH more hosting a party at your house or an outdoor venue than you would indoors.
I'm not sure how other indoor spaces manage their supplies, but we only charge guests to get extra drinks and provides and such on the afternoon of the party should they end up needing them, and we also allow parties to attract in their OWN meals, dessert, and decor if they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning before, during, and after the party may also have a toll. Would not it be wonderful to walk into a sparkling clean space and depart with your guests when the party's over, not needing to be concerned about the clean-up, trash removal, tent teardown, etc?
It's possible to just go home and unwind with your loved ones (yes, maybe outside!)
Along with the time spent cleaning before and after the party, would not it ALSO be nice to not need to play"server" during the event? For clients that make their own food and decor, our dedicated party assistants set up everything, refill and mend food and drinks as needed, clear dishes, cut and serve the cake, and package up all of the leftovers at the end of the party!
After all, it's your child's special day and you want to spend those valuable hours making memories and seeing with your guests-- not running around chasing your decorations or refilling the fruit bowl innumerable times.
So save everyone (and especially your family!) Lots of anxiety, time, and stress by booking your event with us summer time. We would be honored to provide you with an easy, enjoyable experience that will leave your whole guest list feeling joyful, thankful, and filled with love after spending a relaxing (yet fun-filled!) day together.
